Miles Davis was correct about Ornette Coleman. At first I thought Miles was some what harsh but after listening to this I have to agree with everything Miles said.

For me Lovano was the x factor in this group, Schofield's tunes and playing were hip and harmonically coherent, and Lovano brought his unique free impressionism to these tunes. After writing out a couple of Lovano's solos, there's a power in what he does and I'm a fan, but the melodic/harmonic relationships remain a puzzle.

Ulmer had his own tunings...and thoughts on playing guitar. Like Miles said play like ypu dont know how to play.

In my opinion Chet's best work by far was in the 1980s. By then he had regained his technical skills and gone up to a whole new level of sophistication. Miles better than his work in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Chet in the 1980s was the best trumpeter the world has ever seen. Nice to see Nicola Stilo with him in the 1970s. He recorded some amazing tunes with Chet in the 80s as well. A very talented artist, who plays the piano incredibly well, not just the flute. Check out the Dee's Dilemmna with Chet in the 80s, in which Nicola play piano.

A tip of the hat to the audio crew on this one wherever it was. Well balanced and clean as a whistle and it’s 1960. I’ve heard tons of television shots from the 70s 80s and even later that couldn’t hold a candle to this audio wise. And Dizzy is still getting a really full and beautiful sound at this point.

Mi ricordo che assistetti al concerto con alcuni amici per quasi tutto il tempo in ginocchio su uno stuoino, gentilmente offerto da una ragazza, in quanto non si riusciva neanche a sedersi per la grande partecipazione di pubblico. Una certa sofferenza fisica alla fine del concerto ma contento della bella performance di questi meravigliosi musicisti. Suonarono ai Giardini del Frontone a Perugia.
